Ocean University of China
Research Secretary Assistant
September 2015 – June 2021 Northwest Pacific

Participating in assisting major projects, general projects application, mid-term review, final defense, project funding management, and other related tasks supervised by Dr. Ma and Prof. Wu.

  • Assisted teachers in conducting marine expeditions to Jiaozhou Bay twice (2012/2014.06) and successfully contributed to the application and approval of the “Marine Survey Methods” national excellent course.
  • Assisted in organizing the five-year periodic evaluation meeting of the Key Laboratory of Physical Oceanography under the Ministry of Education (2016). The evaluation result was rated as “excellent,” with only 7 out of 50 laboratories in the field of Earth Sciences receiving this distinction.
  • Assisted in organizing the CLIVAR Open Science Conference (2016) and hosted over 600 experts in the field of ocean-atmosphere interactions. This conference significantly enhanced China’s influence and voice in the field of climate change research.
  • Assisted in organizing the Global Ocean Summit (2016) and hosted over 300 global experts, industry representatives, and officials from national ministries in the field of oceanography.
  • Assisted in organizing and coordinating the fourth round (2016) and fifth round (2021) of disciplinary assessments conducted by the Ministry of Education. The discipline of Marine Science received an A+ rating in both evaluations.
  • Promoting the development of world-class disciplines, assisted in organizing and coordinating the first international assessment of disciplines at the university, hosting expert teams from 17 domestic and international universities and research institutes.

On-Ship Scientist
November 2016 – January 2017 Northwest Pacific

We conducted a two-month comprehensive investigation in the tropical western Pacific aboard the research vessel KEXUE supervised by Prof. Wang.

  • We maintained the Western Pacific Submarine Buoy Observation Network and assisted in the recovery/deployment of 11/14 deep-sea buoys and over 300/440 observation devices.
  • During the expedition, we received training on and operated various ocean observation devices, including CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth) instruments, XCTD (Expendable Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth) systems, LADCP (Lowered Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) instruments, shipboard winches, and turbulence profiling instruments.
  • Understanding the operation and management of major scientific facilities, vessel support, engineering and technical services, as well as expedition application processes, at the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
